Today I learned that the
scrub brushy sticks that are still visible
on many of the slopes that are thin
on coverage are known as
"twillies"...I did not know that.
Me and ol' friend Andy visited
Beaver Creek . I got up early,
which is against the A.S.C. credo,
I know. but B.C. is a hundred + mile drive.
We got 10"of 11" snow last night at
my place but I drove all that way
for 5" of new stuff (seemed like less).
Regardless, it's always great to road
trip to ski a less familiar place.
We arrived at Beaver Creek's beginner/intermediate
family friendly, lil' brother area called "Arrowhead"
Andy did some research runs as he is preparing
...And then he skied right through these trees!
KAPOW!
Couldn't keep Andy on the snow.
Many were dropped today, and every day.
This must be the VP's chair.
Killer views of the greater Vail Valley and beyond.
Birds of Prey World Cup downhill course lies across
and just down from Grouse Mountain.
Modest homes are abundant on the hilltops
surrounding the ski area.
Andy dropping the drop.
...and kickin' some pow around.
Lot's of scenic aspen stands about the place.
Aspens are the single largest living organisms
on earth, suck on that Shaq!
One day I wish to reside on the lane
down from Wolverine Ravine.
And now back to more all Andy action.
"Look" just below Andy, it's a "twilly!"
Back to awesome Grouse Mountain, home
to long unrelenting mogul runs and
"Royal Elk Glade"which was pretty nice.
At about 5 minutes to whip you back to the
top, this is a very quick, efficient lift.
Did we really STOP? Or did we go for it?
Andy went for it alright.
Powder cruising.
Pimp my snow cat.
Into the darkness.
Yep, that was 24 so far.
I think it took longer to edit
todays pics and get the post up,
than we spent actually skiing,
but it's always worth it, I hope
you enjoyed this post.
