The Fat Lady Is On Ice

...Yeah, I thought we were done too,
but alas Arapahoe Basin has gotten
nearly 2 feet of snow over the last week,
and spring conditions were at hand.
The game continues...
Shust on Pali.
Promoters were in the lot passing out
"caffeinated beef jerky" called
"Perky Jerky". Gene was one
of the lucky ones.
The Shust wrapping it up.
I guess this is "32"
maybe the last, maybe not,
I just don't know.

Puttin' A Fork In It.

I really thought I had just about
put the wraps on the season after
getting my 30 days. But when the phone
rang and the Shust tells me it's sunny
at The Basin, I just had to say...WTF.
See did we lie? Sunny right?
It was cloudy all around us though,
weird but okay with me.
Randomly parked right next to friends Tony,Diana,
Erin, and Dave, and of course, The Shust.
Yep, I think "31" will be it.
We didn't ski long as the variable
spring conditions weren't agreeable
to us today. It may not have been the
greatest of snow accumulations this
season, but I still had some fun fo sho.
Thanks everyone who skied with me
this year. See ya next season???

"Crimson Ride" or..."Watermelon Snow"

Gene and I came back to
Breckenridge today, as this is
their last week of operations of the
09'-10' ski season. The weather had
been very springlike over the weekend.
After visiting here last week, things had
changed considerably, icey, slushy, and red?
My last trip to Breck of the season.
It's zany, whacky, crazy straw hat day!
"Really!" Yeah really, it was that bad in spots.
GOAL !!! I reached personal goal of
30 days this season, I have sufficiently
patted myself on the back, nice job,...me.

Copper X

It wasn't as much of an actual personal
ski day as it was a great day on the
course at Copper Mountain for the USASA
Snow Cross National Championships.
My good buddy Andy worked on
the course and got me carte blanche
at the event. I shot nearly 500 shots.
I haven't even got through 'em all.
Here's some good ones.
That's what that stands for...
It really is like NASCAR on snow.
Weeee...
Andy on official business.
At the bank.
Taking flight.
Ladies of the USASA
Flyin'
Back to the bank.
I'm right on your ass.
wtf?
My favorite.
Only one run today, but I'm counting it!
Thanks, Andy, Copper, and USASA!

Humping Breck

The ASC gathered for a
hump day meeting at Breckenridge
today and enjoyed 6" of new snow.
Breck's Peak 8 looks very different with it's
new face. Luckily the "Bergenhoff" remains.
Swank and the Scotsman...BACK!
Stroh's and Breck, like peas and carrots.
Blue sky blizzard.
Looking down the T-bar .
Imperial chair was very popular today.
Peak 7 and part of the 10 Mile Range.
Hooray for stickers!
I did not see the number "28"
anywhere today so no pic. I am just
2 days from my personal goal of 30
days this season as of today.
Hoping for a cool post on Friday,
look back please. Thanks.

Badgewhacker

Visited Keystone today,
Glen and I decided to get
here before the snow disappears.
I took the line between Bushwhacker and
Badger, a run I call...Badgewhacker!
Gene headed to Keystone's outer regions.
North peaks long steady bumps of
Ambush and Star Fire(middle runs).
Zany in the glades.
Chillin' chairlift style.
The base was a little thin here.
Gene at top of Ambush.
...And Breckenridge in the distance.
A large tube spitting out skiers,
like an alpine mountain sphinchter.
Yep, only 3 to go to make my goal.

Webcams Can't See the Future.

Sunny blue skies were
what I saw when I checked
the cams before driving up
to A Basin, but by the time we
arrived, things had changed.
Glacial icy flat light conditions
overtook the spring like setting
of just a couple of hours ago.
26th visit at any rate.
Freshies anyone?
