Baked Copper.

Downright balmy it was today.
It was in the mid 40's at our arrival
today at Copper Mountain. the Shust and I
were the  guests of a certain Denver classic
rock radio station who hooked us up with
some freebies...HOORAY FREEBIES!
Always nostalgic about a visit to my
favorite Summit County ski area, my
excitement shriveled about 2 turns into
the first run called Drainpipe.
The sun and warmth do funny
things to the snow and it's not very nice to
ski on, feels great riding on the chair though.
Understanding this we were resolved to
ski slopes that face to the north and they
were'nt to bad at all.
Wacky zany chairlift crazytime!
Union Peak and S Lift...north facing salvation.
Icy cruddy baked bumps of Reso.
Last run, old standard. 17 Glade.
...And in case you made it to the top of the
mountain and still don't know what all these
things that your'e wearing and carrying are...
a refresher diagram, pay attention this time!
Breck on Thursday maybe.C'mon back mon.

Good-bye Mean Gene, Hello Captain Vagabond.

Well it's just as the title implies,
it's the end of one era and the dawn
of a new one. A couple of inches of new
snow comforted the blow from a busy
weekend of nice weather, conditions that
are less than kind to your base. It was
a very nice afternoon of skiing on Chair 1
as we stuck mainly to the trees.
Digital grafitti.
Miss one of these turns, you eat tree... mmmm...tree.

Nice shreddin' bro!

Plunder For My Powder Hungry Ski's.

Oh man, another awesome one today.
M.G. & I got to Loveland at about1:00,
it was kinda cold and windy. Reports said
anywhere from 4-8 inches of new fresh powder.
It was pretty allright!
100% all SkiWulf tracks.
Gene turned me on to this whole new area, very nice.
fresh and steep.
Great tree skiing today.
We may have to come back tomorrow
as it seems we left quite a few freshies behind.

Bargain Day

Another "Hooky Day" promotion
courtesy of 95.7 "The Party" means
$10 for a lift pass, an incredible bargain
with an awesome day like today.
Chris and Chris came over from the Summit.
Mean Gene and I met up in lot with 'em.
B.O.B. met us after his dentist visit,
(don't forget to floss). The highlight of
the day was mucho powder runs off
of Lift 8. It was a bit windy but sunny
and nearly balmy 31 degrees(Too bad Josh).
Unidentified nutty chick,B.O.B.,Crisp, M.G., and Chris from left.
B.O.B. n' M.G.
Tree marshmallow.
Chris waiitng for B.O.B. to recover his ski.

I think this blog will feature mainly pics,
from this point on ,as it take's
waayyy to long to upload tiny files,
and we're improving video quality.
Check out this link to our new
 adventure!We hope you'll enjoy.

"Well Blow Me Down"

The wind was outta control today,
it seemed like at least a
category 2 hurricane early on,
yet it was clear and sunny,
at least on the Front Range.
In the mountains the winds were slightly
more subdued, and there was just a bit
of new snow. "Dust on crust" is the name
of this commonly known phenomenon.
Combined with the bluster and flat light,
this was not the finest day to be on the
mountain, but still alright, all-right.
General lack of color and contrast was the prevailing theme today.
A recently opened chute on the boundary,
note the "meat-sled" on the right... "just in case."
Not sure of the name of this peticular run,
but today I'd call it "Ski Grater" or "Yikes!"
or maybe, "Shit! How Did I Get Here?"
Actually, with some more snow, I'll look forward
to checking this out again, as it is pretty steep,
just like we like it. Think snowy thoughts.
We could use a few feet here at Loveland,
and mountains everywhere.

Boundary to Boundary

It's early February in the
Colorado Rocky Mountains.
It's not supposed to be 42 degrees
here at Loveland, and 62 in Denver...
is it?
Well it was, and what a day.
Sunny with unlimited visibility.
With no new snow to track down,
I decided to start left/south at
Chair 1 working over to the right/
north side to Chair 8. I discovered
some new runs while exploring, and
had a great afternoon skiing solo with
only a shit camera and my tunes.

A half an ass and Sas.

Doctored but neat.

View from an unexplored nook.
Afternoon Moon.
A girl tree? Tranny maybe?
Ra.

I have been unable to upload any
video on the last few posts...
WTF Google? I don't know, just don't know.

seemed like a good idea.
Sunny and clear.
It was a good afternoon.

Rocked Out Horror Ski Picture Show.

First and foremost...
Congratulations to the NFL
Champion Pittsburgh Steelers!
Our man The Shust, with the help of
his local bank secured a couple of
medallions that allow skiing at any
Summit County ski area for Mean Gene and I.
Since it was such a nice day we decided on
Arapahoe Basin because of their
latest expansion that opened
last year. Montezuma Bowl increased
the size of the Basin considerably.
Its a big wide open, nearly treeless
southern exposed bowl, much like Vails
back bowls, or Copper Bowl @ Copper.
It was lil' sunbaked and coverage a bit thin.
I nailed quite a few lil' granite beauties,
hence the title of todays post.
Tremendous view facing southwest.(8 panel panorama)
An unknown skier leaps onto Pali face.
The Shust (front) and the Yeti Slayer (behind).
The new Zuma quad and beyond.
Weird momentary stance.
A  second panorama with Keystone and Breckenridge in the distance.
Shuuuusssst.
Buffalo Mountain.
Jeen.
Tearin' it up.
Some pretty nice steeps, bumps, and chutes, and rocks too.
Goin back to Pali, Pali, Pali, I don't think so.
Headed to the Alleys.
Heeeerres Geneeee.
A shot of Breckenridges windy Imperial Peak at sundown.

Big thanks again to the Shust for
making today happen, and check out
the Legend some afternoon!
6Wulf!
