Rollin' Solo

Today I had to carry the torch
for the Afternoon Ski Club alone.
I proudly reported to the mountain
( Keystone) at 1:30 to find about
6 or 7 inches of fresh stuff.
Not very crowded is how I likes it,
and that just the way it was,
so lots of fresh tracks even later
in the day...whoopeee!
Had some tunes goin' too,
Wolfmother,The Raconteurs, Muse,
Matisyahu, and other assorted ditties.

The trees were sweet,just enough

new snow to cover last weeks ice and rocks.

I stood atop this fresh line

at about 3:00 I then showed

those folks on the chairlift how to

ski powder...you're welcome folks.

A.S.C. might get out once again this week

check on it. SkiWulf Blitzer

Beautiful Bluebird...

Yes, they call these the "bluebird"
days, not a cloud to be seen all day,
an absolutely spectacular day to be alive.

Where in the hell am I? Oh yeah, it
was back to Keystone for the 1st time
in a few years.

Despite the need for more snow,

It was a pleasure simply to be here today

Sorry but highway closures and sickness

allowed me only one day this week, we will

be back strong though, guaranteed!

FREE GONDOLA RIDES!

We missed the big grand opening
hubub earlier today, but the A.S.C. did arrive
eventually(1:30 or so). Breckenridges new
gondola to the Peak 8 base has actually
been running for a few weeks, but this
was the first ride for Crisp and I, the Shust
lives right across the street...not a bad location.

Up up and away.Weeeee! Arts Bowl on Peak 7.
Hey Lake Chutes, I'm comin' for you.
This may look like nothing, this is the future sight
of a village at Peak 7, I hope to come back in the future
and take another picture to see whats changed.
The club'll be back next week with new adventures,
come back then. GondolaWulf

Icey Blue Cheese.

It certainly looked

much warmer out

than it actually was

(11 degrees).But it's

too beautiful outside

not to go. So to the

Basin went todays

club members, Myself,

Al-X, and Kody

Stinkbutt. Apparently,

Kody's gastric system

was in distress, we

knew this by his release

of a series of olfactory

death clouds on the

way there.It was too cold

to take many pics

but heres a few.

best thing about

the Swany toaster

mitt. Then a couple

of shots near the

East Wall.

Hey it's me!( pics graciously donated by Al-X.)

Think warm thoughts. FrozenWulf.

Rage Against the Thermometer

We broke the rules today(Tuesday) and started skiing before noon
at Beaver Creek. The outside temperature was
a crisp 4 degrees(serves us right for going so damn early.)
Speaking of crisp, Crisp toughed it out with me,It was'nt so bad.
The (Al) Gore Range.
Crisp bundled up like the
Stay-Puft Marshmallow man.

"Oh shit,be careful!" would have been a more appropriate sign.

The famous B.O.P race course,

upon which a long list of skiing legends have

blazed down. Add two more to the list...oh yeaahh.

It's good to be skiing, cold or not,

sketchy conditions or not, because a bad day

on the hill is better than a good day at work.

Twist and Grout

"Twist and grout" is what was scrawled in tiny little
letters on the grout between the tiles on the bathroom
wall that I was staring at as I released this mornings
coffee back to the water table. Also written between
those tiles, "Oscar the grout", "Groutcho Marx",
"The Groutful Dead"... Hilarious is all that is...hilarious.
I'm here at Wolf Creek Ski Area with the Tewker,
I've come here to track down "Arctis" who actually posted
a comment on this blog previously about wearing
helmets, leisure time and whatnot. Well guess who
I found, out riding today, not working or wearing a helmet.
Shame Arctis...shame. One of the Four Corners regions
finest pinheads(telemark skier)B'Luv guided our tour.

B-Luv, Arctis, & Mean Gene
Gettin' down
Rip'n Tewker takes the cornice.

... much much later, an explosion occured.
Hey it's me and some pow.

Arctis goes toeside. Alberta Peak and beyond.

Well off the beaten path atop, and beyond
Alberta Peak. Below this we found knee deep
fresh tracks it was spectacular,We had a blast,
thanks to Arctis and Bluv for taking us through
their hood, C'mon back soon for more.

Skiing Rocks!!!

Oops, I meant skiing over rocks.
(Coverage is just slightly thin.)
The A.S.C. is back in sesh for 2000 & 7.
Mean Gene the Yeti Slayer attended todays
meeting at the Basin with me for what was
a descent ski day.
Got wheels?
Hot on the trail of a another Big Yeti.
I suspect that Aliens left us this sign... "Smile Gorp Loves You."
Some roadside Elk thought they were Mountain Goats.
Yes,it was a slow day, hope the pics were enjoyable.Later S.W.

Be Careful What You Ask For.

Yeah, I asked for snow, but not at my house.
Xmas break brought TWO big storms (2 ft. and 1.5 ft.),
I did'nt even ski over those couple of weeks.
Most of the ski areas got much less snow
than my home.Just getting out of the city
to go up there was difficult.

Storm #1... Check out the roof cornice.
Opening a gift with Senator Blutarsky
Mr. Kody enjoying Storm #2.
Have a Healthy,Prosperous, and Bountiful New Year all!
